Gabriel Meyer
Director

Gabriel has advised on transactions in more than 40 African countries

Gabriel has extensive experience advising on international transactions in the US, Europe and Africa, including in several French speaking and Portuguese speaking African jurisdictions. 

He regularly advises international corporates on their expansion strategies and the setting-up and licensing of operations in various African jurisdictions.  Gabriel’s M&A practice also includes advising on private equity transactions and structuring and developing large infrastructure and mining projects.

Before founding Africa Solved, Gabriel headed-up the Africa M&A team at a leading international law firm where he worked for over a decade. His clients included various international banks, development finance institutions, listed entities and many other large corporates.

Gabriel was ranked in Chambers & Partners in 2015 and was noted as having impressed clients with his transactional and regulatory advice. Interviewees would recommend him, "especially in cross-border transactions."  He was also highly recommended in the Legal 500 for 2015. 

Gabriel is a Solicitor (England & Wales) and an Attorney (South Africa).

Eleni Vassilopoulos
Director

Eleni advises international corporates, project sponsors and private equity houses

Eleni is a corporate lawyer and specialises in cross-border transactional work in Africa with experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, equity investments, equity capital markets, and general commercial work. 

She has advised on significant transactions on the continent in the financial institutions sector and the projects and infrastructure sectors. She also has extensive experience in advising clients on structuring and group reorganisations including in relation to establishing offshore holding structures.   

Prior to founding Africa Solved, Eleni worked at a leading international law firm where she acted for, amongst others, Barclays Africa, the International Finance Corporation, RMB, Grindrod and Fortesque. 

In 2015 the Africa team in which Eleni worked was ranked Band 1 by Chambers & Partners in the category "Corporate/Commercial - Africa Wide".

Eleni is an Attorney (South Africa) and is working towards her English law qualification.

Daniel Hayward
Consultant

Daniel practises general commercial and corporate law, specialising in the fields of mergers and acquisitions, tax and corporate finance.  Daniel regularly advises on large mining transactions and has a number of significant clients in the agriculture sector.

Daniel is a Solicitor (England & Wales, non-practicing) and an Attorney (South Africa).

Rolf Endres
Consultant

Rolf Endres has a broad range of experience as a strategy consultant working both with private equity funds and in the financial services industry.  Rolf is a founding partner of Agis Investments, an investment and advisory firm based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Rolf holds a Masters in Economics and Business Administration (WHU Germany). He is fluent in English and German and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese.

 

Melanie Murcott
Consultant

Melanie advises on environmental legal compliance (including EIAs and due diligence) and development and planning approvals.  She is also an expert in administrative law advising on public procurement and compliance related issues.  Melanie is a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria, one of South Africa’s leading universities.

She holds a Masters in Administrative and Constitutional Law (UP) and is currently reading towards her doctorate in Environmental Law (NWU).
